Hello Group, Up front... I am a rookie so please keep any replies in simple terms... I just bought a home DVD recorder... I am going to transfer my VHS over to DVD... I'm not looking to do anything fancy, just record the six hours on tape over to DVD... I am using DVD+R discs.... I understand that each disc needs to be finalized.. But do I have to be in position to add the finalization at the end of each disc I record to? Or will the machine finalize the DVD on it's own because the time has run out? I'd really like to set the DVD player to record and forget about it without having to be around when the tape runs out to finalize the disc. Thanks.....
I have a philips dvdr880 and it gives me option to finalise after.... I can stick mine in bunr till the end and finalise it later on....... I would assume all recorders are like this as you can edit adverts out etc...later and then make those edits written into the directories.... On +r the info is still on the disc but unaccessible......however on an +rw you can still access them..... In answer to your question......yes you should be able to do it....the manual should have details regarding finalising and protecting burned discs.... Hope this helps.
Thanks baabaa... My manuel is a bit fuzzy on how to finalize the disc....let alone how to do it after the recording is complete.... Maybe others have a bit more to add...
