finalizing a dv d

    i have dvd decrypter,fab decrypter,any dvd,clone, nero and shrink to dub my dvd's. i normally do not have any problems dubbing and viewing my dvd'v. however, when i lend copies out,my friends tell me that my dvd's go to a certain point and stop or they get a message which says " no disc ". i was told that i have to finalize the dvd in order for it to play properly on someone's dvd.i looked in all of the above programs and found nothing.can someone help me?

    Chances are, your disks are finalized. This is the default option in both Nero and DVD Decrypter. I'd guess something else is amiss.

    The most likely causes are:

    - using poor quality media. Good media are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and made in Japan labeled Fuji and Sony.

    - burning too fast. A good rule of thumb is to burn at half or less the rated speed of the media. Many of us burn at 4X regardless of the rated speed.

    - out of date firmware. Your burner needs to recognize the media and lookup a write strategy for that media. If the media isn't recognized, a generic strategy is attempted which may or may not be successful.
