id heard it was possible to get some foreign channels on the eurovox 1100 usb (polish, arabic etc) just wondering if anyone can verify either way
not as far as i know from the sky satellite, but yes from astra 19 degrees east or hotbird 13 degrees east, a lot are free to air but for premium channels of course you will have to pay for a subscription.get a patch for your box or go the cs route.
you will need your dish pointed at hotbird 13 degrees east, you can buy a special bracket for your dish to hold a second lnb(that way you can have a choice of 2 satellites for viewing)say if you wanted the fta channels on the sky satellite like the uk tv channels and also have access to hotbird via a switch (you may need a bigger dish depending on where you live, in the uk or ireland an 80 cm dish will be fine). you will need a reciever that is capable of being patched,and a pc and any cables required to put the patch in to the reciever. or you could buy a reciever with a patch allready in it such as the protek(check it out via google)but the protek box has to be connected up to the internet via a ethernet cable running from your broadband router or wirelessly via a device such as home plugs. you can get a reciever with a patch that does not need to be connected to the internet(again check it out via google) .you can recieve many foreign channels and some polish for free on hotbird ,so before paying any money check out which channels are free either buy asking in a shop or looking online. have a look here at the free channels on hotbird(pay channel names are in dark green). http://www.flysat.com/hotbird.php you can even change that list for another satellite list. to get a patch you need to look at satellite tv forums and any patch has to be suitable for what ever reciever you have.i hope this hepls
