Hey all, just reading some of the firefox stuff made me think that it might be worth explaining my problem here and seing if anyone can work it out. Im not sure if this is an actuall function of firefox or just something wrong with mine but when i either open multiple pages (say more than 5) or are running p2p software i my firefox just stalls. It says stopped in the bottom left corner and no matter what i do it just stays like that. I know that if my bandwidth is slow then it will obviously take longer but i have never had this problem with any other browser and Im more than happy to just leave it and come back when the pages are loaded but firefox simply cuts off all my pages from loading at all. So far the only way ive worked out to salvage any of my tabs is to close down half of them and for obvious reasons this is not desired. Thanks for your help.
maybe your using too much ram to use multiple applications, the more tabs you use the more resources it takes up (not by much though but still) so try just using one or the other until you get more ram.
those symptoms are the same as i was having with IE6 on my work PC and at home too, and are the reasons i moved to Firefox. Firefox so far hasn't exhibited this problem and in fact i now do all my Afterdawning (may sessions/tabs) on this old PC with Celerom 466 and 192MB ram and Firefox is a real star and i usually have only 32MB ram free. (Haven't even tweaked Firefox in any way, as i wanna see how well it works as is for some time yet). Am now gonna shut this pc down and add a faster hard drive to see if that improves things a little but asfor Firefox it seems to run very well for me; i also use Firefox on my Linux box at work and now much prefer it to all my various other browsers.. edit- have just noticed the firefox link in gesstar20's siggy so have subscribed to that and will read it later. cheers!
Yeam im running with 768mb of ram am pretty sure that is not the problem. Im over my dl limit at the moment so im not really doing much surfing and havent had the problem since i last posted, but next time i do have it ill try switching off all other apps. I mean i have had the problem before when i was just running maybe a music program and the basics like msn anti virus and the likes. And creaky I feel your pain, ie sucks and i like firefox much more. I used to use a really lite browser called crazy browser that was really good but didnt have any of the trademark firefox goodies. Oh well ill let you know how i go next time i have this problem.
