    Liggy and DEE have released their latest firmware for the Nec 3520 oem. 1UG This firmware is the bomb. It overspeeds almost all quality media 8x to 12x and 16x with almost no differnce in quality.

    I updated to the 1.UF version and it is a great improvement over the stock or official NEC firmware--especially the bitsetting ability for +Rs to set to DVD_ROM. 1.UG looks like minor changes.

    @Aland: Did you update? Notice any differences from 1.UF?

    http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/3520.html This is the link to the new 1UG Firmware from Liggy and DEE. Anything for you Flip. I am currently using the new 1UG and it is great with all my Ty media and my Maxell 002 are also overspeed to 12x with no loss of quality. Try it, you can alway flash back with Bin Flash for Windows.

    Laboy my Old friend:
    Yes I found a great difference if you are using either TYG-02 or TYG-03 or Yuden000-T02 and the Maxell 8x+ is tweaked also.

    @ ALAND and LABOY

    hello you 2, glad someone took the time to remind me of the newest firmware for the nec 3520a :) i don't use this drive daily as i use my pioneer and sony more often on my main computer, but, it's refreshing to know that both you guys that i had several conversations with regarding this drive in the past are still going strong with it~

    it's a very reliable/sturdy drive and i have yet to have problems, just wanted to drop by and say hello to you 2, you are now my source(s) for this drive~ :p

    come to me with your questions about media, i'll come to you about this NEC~ :) fair trade? hehe..have a good one fellas.

    @kivory666: sounds like a deal to me.
    BTW: Just got my first batch of Verbatim (16X)MCC004 and Fuji 8X(MIJ)Yuden000-T02 disks. Now with the hacked firmware letting me booktype my nec 3520A to DVD_rom, I am starting to cook with gas....

    This is a great forum with great people....

    Kivory666: Nice of you to drop bye and say hi. The new firmware is awesome. You have got to try it. I have been testing since it came out and to my surprise the 1UG has a real upside to burninbg dash media. I am only using TYG-02 dash but I think the quality of picture issue is relavent to most high quality media. See you in another thread.

    @ LABOY

    those 2 are top of the line medias that i have used FLAWLESSLY...great choice(s) by the way~ :p i use my MCC003s more than the MCC004s only because i have more of them, but the newer 16xs are great~

    @ALAND

    will definitely try the new firmware, sounds great based on your appraisal of it~ will look into it later this week~ thanks~ :)

    good day to you 2~

    Anytime I can help please let me know. The more I read the more I can help. I will let you know how the new NEC 3540A works out. I just ordered it because Newegg, com has it for a great price. It will burn dash and + RW discs at 8x and 6x respectively. They also have new firmware for it. I'll keep you informed.
