I've tried searching the web and looked thru numerous forums. I've contacted Liteon support. Nothing works! I am trying to resolve an issue with a Liteon DVD recorder [LVW-1101] and most everyone says to update the firmware. I have downloaded it, had Liteon ship me the latest version, and even tried haching it. This Liteon DVD recorder will not recognize the firmware disk as anything other than "DATA DISC". I have tried "RESTORE", have it read several times. Nothing. The unit is no longer under warranty so I don't care what I have to do. I didn't pay $100 for a DVD player. If I have to I'm tempted to duct tape the thing to the highway-that should "kill" the problem. Please help.
I don’t believe your Liteon can be hacked. However you might ask at these site’s http://www.techolio.com/forums/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=ed799d08d814537d6963bd70cdb1b193 http://www.normediasolutions.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12 This is for info on a hack http://www.ncc2315.com/ilo/ The ilo 04 [Not The 05] is a LiteOn The below site, I believe has the latest firmware for your machine There should be No Problem in installing firmware Remember the firmware should be on a – CD disk and there should be nothing else on the disk but ONLY the ONE version of firmware for your machine. Many use only a –R CD disk. I use –RW disks with No Problems http://www.pumapeople.com/liteon/ I don't know what the issue is with your machine Many issues are not solved with firmware
Thank you for responding. I have only tried to install the firmware on recordable CD's. I have made 5 w/ Nero (I am not a novice at this-I have hundreds in numerous formats). Liteon even sent me a firmware update-LNMCT019.DAC-and it did nothing. I don't even know if Liteon even understands what they are doing half the time. All disks were finalized. On the firmware they sent me-the extention didn't seem correct. I thought that there were 3 types-->System, DVD Drive, and both-and from what I've seen this latest firmware is none of the above. I think that the "Firmware" update solution is their "catch all" solution if they don't know! I told them that something physical must be wrong by how it sounds and not taking firmware, etc. I'm going to try the links. Thanks again!
I think that I and others at this or another site would like to know what the problem is that you are having and trying to correct.
