im a newbie and recently returned my sony drx710ul and bought an nec 3500a. I based my decision on reviews i read on various websites that simply claimed that the nec was a better drive and that it had some of the top speeds around. I put my nec in a cosmos external enclosure with an Ali Chipset, and it is connected to my laptop via usb. Im backing up my dvds just like i use to with either dvd shrink or decrypter and for osme reasons when im analazying and encyrpting i get read rates that are a fraction of what i use to get...causing estimated times on shrink to be at over an hour and half and with decrypter some ridiculous amount of hours. Is there any firmware i should dl...anything i should check ?
