Hey guys, first build here, the build is for a home office with a 3 monitor setup. Can you please offer opinions on the build and what additional hardware I would need to make the 3 monitor set up work, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! All sound choices. Your best option to make a three monitor setup work well is one of these: http://www.ibuildcomputer.com/cgi-bin/szc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_partnum=ZMA100021048&p_vlt=L
Thanks Sam for the suggestion! I looked into your triplehead solution and unfortunately it only supports 1280 x 1024 per display. (I should have been more specific, my fault) Im gonna use three 22 inch monitors with a recommended resolution of 1680 x 1050 per display. If I get this motherboard and one more of the same video card. Do you think that will work? Or do you have any alternate suggestions? The MB specs says it has two pci express 16 slots, but one of them only supports X4. Not really sure what that means and if that will make the picture quality suffer.
Your motherboard links to www.example.org .... As for three monitors at that res I'm not sure. The reason the triplehead can't do it is because the required bandwidth is too high. SLI also comes with a whole bunch of issues, nasty motherboards for a start.
oops, the link to the motherboard is right here Thanks Sam and Shaffaaf for pointing me in the right direction. The motherboard has 2 pcie slots, but one only supports 4X. I'm gonna take a gamble and hope it works out ok with that motherboard. Thanks again! I learned a ton from poking around the forums and learning from you guys. I appreciate the help!
Stick with nvidia cards and you'll probably be alright then, it seems. The 4x slot won't be a problem as bandwidth is only an issue for games and you can't use both cards to gain a performance boost in games anyway.
