Hello, i'm trying to make a new gaming pc after sticking with my old rust box for about 5 years. I'd like to mention that i'm looking for a rig that can play most of the graphic intensive games on medium/high settings and achieve respectable fps on games that are currently and are going to be on the market (something like Fallout 3 and Dead Space). I'm inexperienced in looking up the correct components so i'd greatly appreciate it if someone might lend a hand. My desired price range is about $600-800. I've found a prebuild gaming PC on http://www.infonec.com thats slightly above my price range: http://www.infonec.com/site/DIY/configurator_mod.php?systemID=22&user=HO I'm not sure if it's an ok system, but if you think you can create a more suitable build, please use http://www.infonec.com to create one. (I'm not using newegg as i'm currently living in Canada) Again, i'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could help. Thanks in advance.
Newegg have a canadian website. Sites like the one you mention tend to use poor quality components, and have mediocre service. Do the job yourself and you'll fare much better: CPU: E7300 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115132 - $151 MB: EP43-DS3L http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128347 - $107 RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS2 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 - $69 ($30 rebate) GPU: Sapphire HD4830 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102803 - $145 PSU: Antec Earthwatts 380W http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371005 $75 Case: Antec Three Hundred http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 $57 HDD: WD5000AAKS http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073 $75 ODD: 22x LG http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136152 $29 This comes to just shy of $700 after a rebate, and will beat anything you can make on that website for that money.
I was wondering if I should switch out the Sapphire HD4830 for a SAPPHIRE HD4850 ( http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102770 ) in order to save hastle of upgrading in the future. I was also looking for a LCD Monitor 22" and was wondering if this one would be alright with the current setup. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236050
The HD4850 is faster, but by the time it comes to upgrade, if one is insufficient, the other probably will be too. The 4850 is very little extra though.
I was wondering if it's a good idea to switch the Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 with the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 ( http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037 ). The CPU socket types are the same and motherboard and the CPU both have the same FSB (1333MHz), where the E7300 has 1066MHz. (I assume this will make it more efficient to OC?) I still have a bit of money to use and want to know if this switch up would be worth it. Thanks in advance.
Actually it makes the E7300 easier to overclock, as the lower FSB means it has a higher multipier, which is what makes overclocking easier.
Other Canadian sites worth checking is NCIX.com, tigerdirect.ca. And if you have the stores locally I've found Memory Express and B-Com to have respectable prices.
