I have an old xbox i was thinking of modding for fun, and I've been reading up on the different ways.

What softmods are the best for this? I dont have an action replay or any of the games listed that are required. Is there another way of softmodding it, maybe via connecting it to a PC or something? I couldn't find much information about that.

    Thanks.

apparently you haven't been reading around, since if you had you should have found a zillion posts about hot swapping.... so, read a little bit more about 'hot swapping'. that is the cheap way to go about softmodding.
    good luck

You know what, man? Just buy a DuoX2. Yes, you'll have to solder a little, but it's probably safer then softmodding. Plus these chips are dirt cheap. Just do a little bit of practice soldering first on an old circuit board and you'll probably be fine.

I was a bit intimidated about soldering too. So, naturally, the FIRST thing I ever soldered was a DMS4 in my old PS2. 21 wires....all those tiny little points...needless to say after that soldering DuoX2's into Xbox's was a breeze.

Do your homework and you'll be fine. With softmodding or hardmodding.
