Well this is my first year filling taxes and I don't know what to do..Should I go to H & R Block to get them to do my taxes? If so how much do they charge...I work full time, I don't pay rent don't have a car.Pay less than $50 a month for Internet. So I was trying to do my taxes On H&R website but when it ask me about BOX [18]local wages, tips, ect there is a blank there. So i don't know what to do after that.

Box 14-CASDI but cuz its CASDI I can't put it in box 14.My return looks sort of like this.

I wouldn't post a pic of your return with your social security number on it. Someone could steal your info and ruin your credit history...

    Blur out your personal info...

If that's just an example return, then my bad...

H & R is a good place to do your taxes if your unsure on what to do. My grandfather was a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and he always did the entire familys taxes (our estate makes for some tricky tax work). The thing you need to remeber with your taxes is that things that you dont realize are deductions are deductions. For example: do you have a job as a waiter? if yes then the cloths you buy (uniform) are a deduction. Do you play music for money? If yes, your instrument is a deduction. Do you work on cars for a living? If yes, your tools are a deduction... the moral is: Whatever you do for work or money the things you use and need for your job are a deduction. As well are the children (you obviously don't have children) Also, don't do them in a hurry, take an afternoon and read the booklet as ireland said. There is information in there that will get the most out of your refund. You have to understand that you have been paying all year out of your check.. it is your time to get the most of your earnings back.

The problem most Americans make on their taxes is that; A. They don't know what they are doing and pay too much. B. They have someone do them and pay to much for them to be done. C. They don't do them at all. D. Business owners try to deduct too much and end up with and Audit. E. They do them at the last minute in a hurry and don't think it through.

If you can do simple math and don't have the memory of a goldfish you don't need to pay someone to do them...unless you have a complex estate, own a business, or have international accounts.

i did a tax return for 1 of my co-workers who said h & r block said he will get back $79. when i did it, i calculated $2900 but the wife side was iffy. he got back $1900 which is a lot better than $79.

Hi Matador! Some tax returns are very complicated, some very easy. Just depends on the individual. If you don't have a lot of deducations etc., why don't you download the 1040A or even the 1040EZ if you don't have complications and try it yourself; it might be so easy that you'll surprise yourself. (Box 18 only reports the total amount of wages which are subject to to local, city or state income taxes; depending on the form, you probably won't even need it). If you don't have a lot of considerations in your taxes, try it before paying someone; you may well be pleasantly surprised.
