I want to fix the scratches where i can play the game, but I don't want to mess it up because i'm renting it.
You are best off just taking it back to the store you rented it from. They should give you another copy without a problem.
Well I wish, but around here they don't give a crap and just let you find out of it works or not and they don't even get new games to replace the old ones because their so cheap!!
Posted in haste - nothing wrong with fixing a CD so you can play it - Just not to copy it - Sorry, Pete BTW, Welcome to the forum, sorry about the rude welcome - _ _X_X_X_X_X_[small] The “old man” Pete (ö¿ô) Compaq 8000, Pent 4 CPU 2.84GHz, 1GB RAM, 520GB HD. 4 Drives, JLMS DVD ROM, Nec 4X R/W ND-1300A, HP R/W 200j, AXV CD/DVD-ROM. BHS88, To try to make it up to you, SCRATCH REPAIR To help with those small "Kiddie Scratches" on your DVD's - As a final resort to retrieve scratched DVD's with small to medium scratches - Materials needed: A soft cotton cloth Toothpaste w/Borax (Brasso metal polish may be used as a substitute for toothpaste) Isopropanol Alcohol Pledge Orange Juice and Vodka Method: START: Place the disc on a firm soft surface. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to a soft cotton cloth and apply to your DVD - Rubbing very firmly in an even stroke from the center outwards towards the edge. Repeat 10 to 15 times. Do this over the entire disc turning the disc slowly in a circular manner, always going from the inside to the outer edge. When finished, clean the disc thoroughly with a clean cotton cloth moistened with Isopropanol Alcohol, using a firm even rubbing motion from the center outwards towards the edge. NEXT: Using a clean piece of cotton cloth, apply Pledge to the entire disc in the same manner as the toothpaste was applied above. Attempt to play disc. Orange Juice and Vodka are to be liberally applied internally. May be repeated as required to recover disc. BHS88 - Wasn't trying to be rude or anything, just thought taking it back to try to get another working copy would be much easier than attempting to recover the scrached one. Welcome to AD though, and good luck with the disc! Alex
