I haven't taken a part of a Nintendo DS lite but I am wondering. I was to buy one of those DS lite on ebay with a broken hinge or perhaps both, would there be some way to take these 3rd party hinges and put them on the original Nintendo Shell? The reason why I ask is because these replacement shells I hear they aren't as great as the original ones but acceptable since they are cheap. Anyone think my idea is possible? Cliff-notes: -Buy Broken hinge DS -Replace hinge(s) from an after-market DS shell case -Is it possible?
cheapest option would be buy a hard aluminium case from ebay or hong kong, the case actually hold the top screen in place at whatever angle u like because the hinge is tight fit. also it will protect your ds lite a bit.
Broken hinge NDS on eBay are a gamble. Some sellers sell as-is. Some sellers intentionally hide other flaws or non-operational status of the unit. Avg. price incl. shipping for a used, damaged NDSL is $49.99 and up. Avg. price incl. r a NDSL replacement shell is $20.00 and up You're already at $70.00 + with NO GUARANTEE that you will have a working unit in the end. I am speaking from experience in repairing/reassembling over 50 NDS/NDSL. I have purchased several broken units from eBay and other sources. It is by no means a sure thing, but it IS possible. My advice is: Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst Accept whatever happens.
Yeah, and it's $20.00. I've installed several of them and severl of the Shock cases. Any of these will work. All the rest of my statements apply.
