Flashing Lights

    I have compaq presario s4490uk, dvd rom, dvd+/cd writer 2.8 pen4 . dvd/cd writer has shut and will not open. have tried re-boot, tried ejecting via

    while it's booting, you still cannot eject?

    no it will not open during or after re-boot.....its soon to be booted up in the air !!!!
    no seriously i've even tried using burning software to eject it!!

    bummer, I don't think there is anything you can do besides buing a new drive.

    Have you tried opening it useing the little manual eject hole on the front and a paperclip?

    Have you checked that the power connector is seated correctly in the rear of the unit?
