Recently my dell inpsiron 1300 starting displaying the red blinking light indicating battery problems. I usually run my laptop through mains power supply and understand that the battery has had its last days of charging. When not on mains power it would die. I have now replaced the battery with a new 4800mah and it is much better, however when the laptop is in standby i often leave the power plugged in (constant charge) and after a while the red light flashes again. There doesn't seem to be any problems with the battery but i'd just like to know why i am still getting the red light?
3 possibilities: 1. Could just be a defect in the laptop that you have. This can be fixed with a motherboard replacement but if it works, don't attempt to fix it. 2. The AC Adapter is bad or going bad. When the Red LED starts blinking do 2 things. 1, is the adapter abnormally hot? 2. Go into the BIOS under AC adapter and is the AC Adapter Type: Undetermined? If so then the AC Adapter is bad. 3. If the new battery you got is not original Dell, then it could be the battery. It could also be a bad batter. If you got it from Dell call them and they will replace it for you.
Ok i will have a look in the bios. It's not a dell battery, is this a common problem with non oe batteries?
I don't know but it could be. There could be a bad cell inside the battery pack. I would only trust Dell batteries in Dell laptops. Can you post a link to the battery that you bought?
