I would like to install the Force Aspi 4.6 (1021), but I don’t understand one part of the instructions at http://radified.com/ASPI/forceaspi.htm where the author says, “Open a Command Prompt and run the appropriate *.BAT file(s).” Can someone please explain in simple terms how to do this? Windows 2000 Nero 5.5.10.56 TDK CDRW 121032a I have the Nero wnaspi32.dll file in the Nero program, but I am still unable to burn CDs. In the Nero Info Tool, ASPI tab, under Aspi Installation, I keep changing the dropdown box to Nero Aspi, but it keeps reverting to System Aspi. I have read and tried everything I could find and understand on this problem, and it seems that installing the Force Aspi might be the solution. I have tried using different CDs, different speeds, etc. Both my CD drives are reading previously burned CDs. I use the burner only for data files. Any help or direction will be deeply appreciated.
go here: http://forceaspi18.w.interia.pl/ Instructions on the site. Download both force 1.8 and aspi check.
That's the same article I quoted from but at a different site. I don't understand the last sentence under "Installation." What are the appropriate *.BAT files and how do I run them with a command prompt? Sorry to be so dumb. I hope you can explain this at a very basic level.
You are making this harder than it is. You don't need to run these from the command prompt. Click on DUMPASPI.BAT Click on INSTASPI.BAT Reboot your PC Click on aspichk.exe
I was only trying to follow directions. When you don't know what you're doing, you don't know what is important and what you can skip. Thanks for the response.
I installed ForceAspi 4.60, but I still can’t burn CDs. Aspi_chk. exe reports, “Aspi is properly installed, but one of the helper drivers has failed to initialize (0xE3).” I googled 0xE3 but can’t make heads or tails of what I found. I’ve solved my problem, so I thought I would post here in case someone in my predicament has been reading this thread. I bought the Maxell CD Lens Cleaner at Wal-Mart and ran it in both my D (CDRW) and E (CD-ROM) drives. Since then, I’ve been happily burning data CDs at maximum speed (12x) on the various brands of disks which I had previously tried unsuccessfully, and both drives are reading them. I also ran the tests on the Maxell disk and am pleasantly surprised at the sound quality of my six-year old Gateway computer. I hope this will help someone.
Your problem is you did not finish the setup. After toy unziped the files and went to the folder that you put them in you run install ms-batch file,a ms-dos prompt opens and says enter any key, hit enter, the window closes and your done with that part. Now look for the file aspinst in the same folder you zipped to and open it and install, then reboot. When finished loading go back to the folder you zipped to and run the aspi check, you should be good to go.
