When ever i try ot format my laptop it gives me this error

Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other prgrams that are using this drive, and make sure no windows is displaying the contents of this drive. then try formating.

Nothing is running in the back ground. i know what happenes bwhen you format and i have the recovery discs.

To format the main drive of the computer you can not do it from within the Windows environment. You will need to reboot and press F8 repeatedly and an option screen will come up. Select Command Prompt Only. After the command prompt boots up type format c: and a message will appear asking if you are sure that you want to do this. Select yes and your computer will format completely.

This is never a good thing to do. You will loose all of your files and documents. If you have a problem with your computer it is best to create a post explaining the problem and let us help you get it figured out.
