Formating disks

    Is it necessary to format DVD+R and/or DVD+RW disks before burning them?

    RW discs DO need formated. Some programs just do it for you automatically so you don't see it being done.

    Sorry Jerry I didn't think the first one went thru.

    I'm using Sonic MyDVD software and the help section does not say if it automatically formats DVD RW disks. Any harm if I do it myself manually?

    No problem on the double post error, everyone makes mistakes. You can format the RW with programs like Nero or RecordNow. I haven't use Sonic so I don't know if it will do the format automatically or not. Best to check the help files or manual on that program to see what they suggest. If you can't find the exact answer, maybe post a thread directly on Sonic software or do a search first on here. Good luck.
