formats

    whats the best format to edit in adobe premiere pro. currently i'm using mpeg1...tried avi as well. note that i'm not using a dv cam..old hi8 tapes being recorded from composite in through video card. suggestions?

    well the best format would be the one you captured your hi-8 footage with? what did you use as capture settings? your best bet is to capture as DV AVI format. the DV format is very easy to read, uses little space compared to uncompressed (~13GB per hour) and can then easily be exported to other formats like mpeg1 for computer, mpeg2 to DVD (which premiere pro can do directly now) or other formats like quicktime.

    So if its not a pain, just start over and capture with a DV AVI codec. It will be the easiest to use
