Formatting Hard Drive on Windows XP.

What the difference between formatting the hard drive in quick mode and the slower mode. Because I can't format the hard drive in the slower mode. (I think the disc is damage) But works fine on the quick mode.

Though I can't really define the difference as I don't know what it is, my friend was installing a new HD on XP recently, I believe he used either this guide;

Or a standard Ultimate XP boot disc;

I think either way should work, but the guide sure makes it sound simple. When I installed a new HD on my WinME I just used an Ultimate ME bootdisc and it was easy as pie, those discs are amazingly simple to use.

have you tried maxblast?.....it solved alotta My problems formatting n partitioning a large HD

 

Quick format just erases the files where a regular format also scans for bad sectors.
