Is it possibly to format the windows xp home edition without the startup disk. My windows was bought in China and i rather misplaced or never received a disk. So if i use a xp disk from my desktop would it work by just switiching the activation code? or is there another way to not use the startup cd and still reformat. System recover doesn't work so that would not help.

You can format a computer without an XP disk. Any legit XP disk will reload your computer but you only get one activation code per install disc on one machine. You can not have two at the same time. That would require buying another XP license code.
