If its internal and uses IDE, then it'll work. Maxtor is the best brand if you want a locking hard drive, so I'd get it.
hmm dunno bout the best, but theyre the cheapest, unless you shop ebay etc Ive done half a dozen or so hdd mods, always used a seagate, never had a prob locking it. To be honest though, there is no reason to lock your drive. If you use xbox live you can access MS dash from evox.
