Alright... Not exactly sure if its been posted, but I've searched and didn't find it so here goes. I have a v1.6b xbox sitting here. Opened it up, all went well, removed all pieces parts and cables... removed the motherboard, all in perfect shape. Installed Duox2 lite to its pinheader after removing pins. Flipped mobo over, slapped male pinheader through top, LPC rebuild circuit board over it, soldered it all together... soldered the trace points together. Cooled it, soldered a D0 cable to the patch, flipped mobo over, soldered d0 cable to d0 point on duox2 lite chip. Soldered BT point for control of activation of chip... Installed chip on pinheader. Sounds good, right? As always, boot xbox with modchip off. Halo2 loads up, I go into a map and shoot myself till I die. Power xbox off. Power up with modchip enabled..... FRAG/Christmas lights. Checked for cross-solder... checked d0 trace.... all seems to be well. Any ideas? (will post pictures if that will help). Removed the chip from the pinheader, and the xbox will boot through power button as if no chip was installed (pretty sure its supposed to do that anyway...) My xbox is safe, I just can't get the chip to work! Help will be much appreciated. Items used 25 watt pencil solder rosin core solder duox2 lite chip package (pinheader, lpc rebuild, chip) Xbox v1.6b
I didnt buy a solder required chip so I cant help if that's the problem. But it sounds to me like you've purchased a faulty chip??? Where did you buy from?
As with all my mod needs, I used Divineo.... I don't necessarily know if its a bad image or a faulty BIOS or what... says it should come preloaded with Evos M8+, but now I'm fairly sure I've fried my motherboard soldering and desoldering to find the answer. I get Amber/Orange and Green Lights now. Fun huh?
Oh, fun stuff indeed. I bought from Divineo as well. Well if it turns out that your problem really is a solder issue, you're gonna need to seek help from one of the more daring modders on this forum Good luck!
just remember to never use the lpc rebuilds for the duox 2 lite on 1.6v. xboxes. Those are known to not make correct contact to the motherboard, and are a pain in the ass to remove...Your fragging is most likeley do to the lpc rebuild, remove it and just rebuild the lpc using wires. It should work, I've repaired a few xboxes myself with the same problem your having, buy removing the lpc rebuilds and starting from scratch.
Excact same problem as you Darth Wolf, and i know the chip isnt faulty because it booted on my other box (already modded) that LPC boarld sucks and is a bitch to remove, so im emailing one of my buddies and we're gonna figure this out. I will post back the details. DONT GIVE UP!!!
