Please move this as needed. Can anyone provide me with sources for "FREE" dell computers and parts? Everything from ATX PSUs to system boards? I especially need cases, in particular the dimension 8100/optiplex gx400. I repair and build towers to give away to people in need. Since I give them away I need to keep costs down, hopefully "FREE" to me. I am willing to pay for low cost shipping. Even personal contacts would be helpful. As well as web sites, organizations willing to give me their castoffs. The organizations in my area will not even talk to me. Thanks.
Yes but the staffers refuse to let residents scavenge. usualy the local government has strict rules against that. hard to get around that. local recycling centers will accept but not give out. they would rather spend $s hiring scrap haulers than allow the public to take it for free. too afraid of lawsuits here. ridiculous attitude.
Try a specialised recycler instead, the ones that do them up & sell or sell parts, yeah a crying bloody shame the stuff people throw out that still works with a minor bit of tinkering only to get crushed at the local transfer station =(place where people go & pay to dump rubbish, computers, mowers, garden waste etc, which then gets seperated & sorted),had a mate that worked at one the amount of lawnmowers in mint condition that got thrown out was staggering & in Auckland there'd be 6 of these places, what a frak'n waste of perfectly good usable junk...lol...
we have those electronic recyling depots too but i'm talking about electronic recyling bins at corner stores or wereever. i have 1 at my corner store in lefroy, ontario that i check every so often for parts & have 1 at our town hall which i have found parts plus a good clone case that my win7 computer is now in.
We have a few recycle bins around that are supposed to be for clothes. Other stuff is left outside the box rarely. The electronics stores do not give anything away. Same for the repair stores. You are way ahead of us there.
