Are there any decent music sites out there where you can download and transfer music for free without clogging up the harddrive with spyware and viruses?
www.allofmp3.com 2 cents a mb, so 128kb are like 6c a song, all the way up to cd PCM not free, but the price for no virus's i worth it have like 100 songs only spent 15 or 20, and this is not one of those pay for warez sites either, totally legit
I checked out that site and listened to a few sample songs and the quality seemed poor. Is the quality better when it's downloaded?
yes, you have to make an account you get 20 cents for free, so you can get one song and listen to it credicards can be used to
I too would recommend allofmp3.com. I've been using it for a couple of years now & have never had a problem. They can be trusted & the quality is as good as you like it on most files. If it is a file labeled as VIP the bitrate will be set at 160 or 192 usually. When you are listening to a sample, the bitrate is very low for ease of buffering. So I wouldn't worry about it.
Does the price per song stay the same at the different bitrates? Or does it change? For example, if I wanted to d/l a song at 11 cents but the bitrate is set to 160 and I wanted a higher bitrate (192), would the price of that song go up?
Yes, You pay 2 cents per Mb. The higher the bitrate, the larger the file size. The higher the file size, the higher the cost.
still, 128 itunes, though ACC, so maybe 192 mp3 quality itunes 99c, all of mp3, 8-15c you have to get like a 15 min song to pay a dollar most CD are 2-3 dollars at 192 kb mp3 but u can get lossy codecs for most, especially newer albumbs
I hope you don't mind me asking this question. I went to the allofmp3 website, tried to listen to the a sample, it downloaded to net transport (which I've never used) How do I actually listen to the song?? As you can tell I have never downloaded any music, so pardon me if these sound like stupid questions. We all have to start somewhere Thanks Steve
im assuming u have windows and media player right clike on the preview all album, then click save target as save it to the desktop then open the m3u file with windows media player
Thanks, TimKizzle I uninstalled net transport everything works fine now Must of had net transport set for the default, without knowing it. I became a member of allofmp3, and set up an account. I couldn't fine some of my favorite artists, example: Vickki Carr . I'm into real oldies (50's, 60's and 70's) But I will make do with what they do offer. I have a couple of questions though: I would be converting all of my downloads to wav format, what birate do you suggest?? and do you know of a good, hopefully free, mp3 to wav convert app?? Thanks again, Steve
Why do you want to convert all the files to .wav format? If this for the purpose of recording to CD, the burning program that you use should do this automatically. When you ask,What bitrate do you suggest, do you mean what bitrate to download from the site? That would be a matter of taste. The higher the bitrate, the better the quality of the file. Wether you actually hear the difference though is a different matter. Some people will hear the difference between 192kbps & 256kbps. I don't, years of abuse to the ears I guess. I download most of my files at 192kbps. This seems to be a good mix of quality & saving on space. By the way, please tell me that music from the 70's isn't REALLY OLD MUSIC!!! I don't think I can handle the reality of that!!! Almost forgot, if you deem it necessary to convert your files than check out dbPoweramp. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm This is the newest version.
Digidave--I forgot to say "By the way, please tell me that music from the 70's isn't REALLY OLD MUSIC" Your right music from the 70's are not that old to me and you, but they are real old to young people who love the big bass and the bump, bump, bump. You Know what I mean. Steve
