There is no free Nero period. Not for Vista, not for XP, not Nero 7, 8...whatever. Are you asking about trial versions?
I doubt it was free...even though we're talking about centuries ago.Is anyone even using anything older than nero 6? I don't even think Nero had DVD-Video burning support until later versions of Nero 5.
I definately got V5 free with my old computer - i got the disc in my hand ) I'm feel sure Nero 6 was free with my last machine (Win XP) - but i could be mistaken - i think it was Nero Express V6 (like cut down version) - it doesn't work on Vista I tried Nero 7 trial but apart from it not being free - i found it was much too big for my needs - sooooooooooo big i wouldn't kept it installed even if it was free - maybe they do express/lite version - i might buy that if it did the few things i want (which aint much really)
Okay, so it came with your machine...that doesn't mean it was free... the same way the Windows that came with your machine wasn't free...you paid for it when you purchased your machine. The OEM packages that come with a purchased hardware( can be shipped with some DVD burners also) have limited functionality. There is a Nero Lite that migh do just what you want: http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Data-CD-DVD-Burning/Nero-Lite.shtml
