Im fed up of going around in circles and getting nowhere, i have two freecom usb external hardives , i have stopped updating xp as if i do install latest patches my freecom hardrives stop working ie the pc freezes and locks up totally if i do and attempt to copy anything to my external drives, by doing a ghost reinstall minus the new updates my pc including the external 80gb/160 usb drives work fine , im in the unfortunate position if i update i lose my extra storage , ivce had all sorts of advice from people including from engineers suggesting i start upgrading drivers etc but im only relatively new to pcs and dont know enough yet to attempt things like motherboards etc, i even bought an old pc and got it working in a fashion only to find it hadnt got any modem thinking old pc foor the internet and xp leave working as it is , so despite my best efforts im stuck any ideas as to how to resolve the problem with the freecom drives? ive tried freecom to no avail Thanks

i had that problem on xp..but not on win-2000.
if i were you i would get a usb pci card, like from Adaptec .and see if that solves ye problem..it fixed mine.
