I have read a lot of posts and my problem has not been addresses exactly, that I have found.I cannot seem to get past 10% of disc prep.I have closed all the running programs and have removed everything pertaining to CDs such as easy cd etc.I need to go one on one with someone that can lead a dummy into the light.

what is disk prep? It would be usefull if you can state the software you are trying to use as well as the dvd burner when you get this "disk prep" error.

Example. My Sony 120 DVD+RW drive sometimes freezes up after burning using Nero. The disk burns fine, but if I want to burn another sometimes I have to go into my machine and Power down my drive (unplug the AC from it and wait a few mintues) then power it back up before Nero recognizes my drive.

There are so many specifics in this amature game.

I am using a pioneer DVD ROM DVD114 to play the movie Goldmember for the start, I have DVDx Copy
1.5.0 that I just downloaded from 123 Studio.I place the movie in ,open the DVDX program and attempt to follow the steps. The first part is disc preparation and it only gets to 10% or so and freezes up the computer. I tried Nero and also gearwork. I tried 3 other movies also. I am really not good at understanding a lot of the advice I have read about the other problems and I am at a total loss as to what to do about mine.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My computer freezes at 10 - 20 % when using dvd2one. I have Athlon 2100. I change multiplier and make it 2400 and strangly dvd2one make it to the end. But I don't really believe that was the solution.

As per some suggestions I tried the burner to read the movie for disk preparation and it got to vts.01-2.vob before freezing up the computer. I tried the nero choice instead of gearworks.I have not been able to complete even the first stage of the process.HELP!!!!!

    I'd suggest on using:

    Smartripper (free)
    OR
    DVD Decrypter (free)

    DVD2One
    OR
    DVD Shrink (free)

    Nero
    OR
    RecordNow

This is a definite working process...other than that all I can add is http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com
