    OK hello,

just to make sure im using the right term, my dvd's burn fine with nero, roxio dvd copy, etc. no problem. but i take it out and flip over and there is a ring..varies in size, but it's black and you can tell nothing was written. warped right?

first off, thanks for anyone's help with this. im 99% sure it is my dvd burner, but it could always be that i'm cheap and have just bought different brands made by the same manufacturer/process. figured i'd ask and see if there is somethin i don't know of before i go through the hassle of rma.

    i have a Samsung TS-h552b dvd burner.
    16x Single, 2.4x DL.. i use 8x dvd +r discs

ive tried memorex, and ridata. i have not gone for verbatim or any of the more expensive brands yet, as i want to find out where the problem lies.

i had been burning my memorex at 8x for awhile before i noticed it warping, i tried ridata and had the same luck. not as bad at 6x, and i've only tried 4x like 3 times and it didn't warp any of them.

is it the cheap dvds, or the burner? the dvds are 4 stars (out of 5) at newegg...which can be forged but i read the reviews they seem legit.

    thanks again

I'm kind of confused. You say they burn OK but do they play at all. Are these movie burns or data burns. The bottom will change color where it is burned. This is normal. Memorex blanks are very poor quality media and should be avoided. The Ridata should be OK to use. The Memorex blanks have about a 50% failure rate at times.
