Ok I have a friend who according to him, he deleted the nvidia folder on his computer. I assume it contains vital files and the necessary drivers. He cannot run any games and the graphics card is not detected. What would be the best solution to this? Would I have to find his nvidia CD and run some kind of installer? Also it seems he has deleted the java folder and now can not run java applications. Would I just go onto the java site and download the installer to resolve this? Thanks,
first, above all, try finding java and nvidia driver in "add remove programs" and remove it if you find it because of remaining files that could conflict with newer installation. download java from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp click on offline installation. try detecting your nvidia graphic card. nvidia drivers are available on: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us if you have your support cd there should be your nvidia graphics card driver.
1) Has he tried removing the card and then reinstalling it and rebooting to allow Windows to find the device. And he probably will need the installation CD or download the drivers from the website for it to function properly. 2) Just download the JAVA installer from the website and run it. Should be good. EDIT: I guess I was a little late to the show, as loood beat me to the punch.
