ATI Radeon All in Wonder 768MB RAM 700MHz Duron CPU 160GB hdd (90GB free) VHS composite out is hooked to ATI input adapter, to Radeo card. Sound is going out from video card to sound card line in. In Windows Movie Maker, it detects the ATI Rage Theatre Video Capture. It will capture video and audio into .wmv format. I don't mind this for now as I am told it can later be converted and burned to a DVD. The only problem is, at higher resolutions, the playback of the captured files is very jerky, basically not worth keeping. When I lower the resolution down (e.g., 320 x 240 and only 512kbps), it plays back alright. Anything decent is jerky. I tried using virtualdub mod v 1.5.10.2 to capture. While it's capturing, it looks fine, but when saved, it's also jerky. I took the video files and played them on a Pentium 4 machine, and they were still jerky. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm wondering if there's a better, simpler way to capture. WMM is easy, but jerky. Vdub seems a bit odd, and doesn't seem to have a very user friendly way of starting and stopping the capturing.
for vdub try capturing using this codec as the compresion http://www.free-codecs.com/HuffYUV_download.htm GooD Luck
