make sure your computer's IP address is the GATEWAY IP address to your xbox.. i had a mistake like that.. u need to right click network connections and take off automatic IP connection or something like that if u didnt do that.. lemme know if u did that

mines on static and it still works i dont think thats a problem , u need to match your ip's so u can FTP.

    you cant find it..?

go control pannel..network connections.. then right click and hit properties on your main connection then go to like TCP or watever and hit the properties tab and from there u can manually put in ur xbox's gateway IP, i dont think it has anything to do with it being static cus mines on static

put in the IP of your router, which is what you use to access it via a browser and yes you should have Static IP on the xbox off. no port forwarding needed. setup your FTP client accordingly

i have also tried to put an ip in my xbox reboot and ping it from my computer and it it keeps saying request timed out and it is not finding my xbox. Should i use a cross over or a router, what is better or easier to use? Currently i am useing crossover cables, but a router would be easier for my network.

There are many way to set up the ftp. Here is my way. and I use Flashfxp.

    On PC
    Ip 192.168.1.11
    subnet 255.255.255.0

    On Xbox (set static)
    Ip 192.168.1.111
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.11

Try to use crossover cable first to make sure it works. Then switch to router. Make sure xbox shows its ip address, static mode, subnet and gateway.
