Alright, I've asked so many people to help me, they give their oppinion on what may help, and don't get me wrong, I'm thankful. Unfortunatly, none of theirs have worked. But to get to the point, I've tried everything to FTP from my PC to my Xbox, hell...I've even tried FTPing from Xbox to Xbox, but even that doesn't work. So I MUST be doing something wrong. First, FTP from my PC to Xbox. I'm running Windows 98 SE with FlashFXP, and when I open CP, I only find "Network", no "Network and Internet Connections". And when I open that, I only have these few options; Client for Microsoft Networks, Microsoft Family Logon, 10/100M PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter, Belkin USB Ethernet Adapter, Dial-Up Adapter, TCP/IP 10/100M PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter, TCP/IP Belkin USB Ethernet Adapter, TCP/IP Dial-Up Adapter. That means no "Network Connections" or "Local Area Connections". So now that we have established that, I have followed every FTP Guide and have gone by these options for my PC and Xbox. (PC, I just changed the options for the first TCP/IP). So which one am I supposed to change the options? PC IP: 192.168.1.4 SUB: 255.255.255.0 GATEWAY: 192.168.0.1 Xbox IP: 192.168.1.5 SUB: 255.255.255.0 GATEWAY: 192.168.0.1 Also, I'm running Unleash X, I think the newest version. I also have Avalaunch on the Xbox as an Application. So if there's any way that I can use that to FTP, please give your insight. And I also heard that Avalaunch had a feature that it could FTP between 2 Xboxes but when I click the option in the IP section, it says reboot. I've tried rebooting the Dash (So that it goes to UX) and I've rebooted to UX and then rebooted that, but it didn't do anything. BTW, I made an Xbox2Xbox connection on both boxes. Anyway, I change the options on the first TCP/IP to the Options I'm supposed to, then I change the options on my Xbox. I reboot my computer after changing the IP and Subnet, same with the Xbox. I then connect the two using the Cable that came with the Xbox 360 (I assume that's a valid Ethernet Cable), then I load FlashFXP, And connect, using the IP of the Xbox (192.168.1.5) and enter username and password as "xbox" and try connecting to the HDD, but nothing happens. It just says it can't connect. And yes, the username and password are still "xbox". I've the normal tutorials, I've tried the IE way but it just said page cannot be displayed, I've even tried the easiest guide I've found, that just so happens to be on this forum...but nuthin. That's why I came here, you all seem to know the most about Xbox FTPing and modding or anything else and if anyone can help me, it's you guys. Please...PLEASE help me. I beg of you. lol. Cause for some reason, my Xbox won't read CD-RWs, so the only way for me to get my Emus and ROMs on there is to FTP. So...if it can't read CDs, is it possible that it can't FTP either?
Try delete gateway on pc. Change gateway on xbox same as IP address on pc. So you have like this: PC IP: 192.168.1.4 SUB: 255.255.255.0 GATEWAY: Xbox IP: 192.168.1.5 SUB: 255.255.255.0 GATEWAY: 192.168.1.4 Try to connect pc and xbox with crossover cable. use flashfxp username xbox password xbox
Thanks a lot for trying to help, but it didn't work. How can so many people do this flawlessly and I can't do it at all? XD Maybe there's one of 2 things wrong. 1. I'm using the wrong TCP/IP 2. The Xbox 360 System Link cable (For some reason) isn't crossover.
do you have the xbox and the computer directly connected, no router? and yes the 360 cable is a standard crossover cable.
sometimes , i dont know why but ur xbox sometimes changes ur ip to manuel try changing it to automatic ON UR XBOX
It's a direct connection from my PC to the Xbox. And I'm not running through a router, can it still change the IP?
i had alot of problems trynig to ftp over a crossover, I would suggest just doing it over a router. it's so easy. you can boot the xbox to the dashboard, check the ip assigned then pop it into flashfxp. if you don't have a router its worth the $20s they cost these days. you can probably get it cheaper if you didn't want it to be wireless.
Sorry for not updating sooner, if you heard Illinois was hit by a bunch of Tornadoes and I had no power for 2 days. Anyway, I have a router, but the thing is I want to transfer files from MY computer (Upstairs) to my Xbox (Upstairs) and the router is downstairs. I can't really do that. =\ Unless of course this works, give me your oppinion before I try it. I plug my CAT5 cable that goes from my computer into the main section of the router (That the Internet Modem ususally goes into), my xbox into an open spot on the router, And do it that way. Only problem with that is that I have no TV near the router to plug the cable into. I may have a power socket open, but can the Xbox run without a TV connected? And another thing, if I did that, what would I enter for the IP address in FlashFXP? Would I just enter the IP that was assigned to it? And if that's the case, could I just plug my internet into it now while it's upstairs, write down the IP it's assigned, and then do what I said earlier in this post, and plug the one for my Xbox into the slot that my internet Cord comes from and it would keep the same IP?
a cat5 and crossover are different cables (some wires inside lead to different terminals in the plug). if you are using the ethernet cable that came with your 360 you must use a router with it. with the router simply plug your pc into an empty port and your xbox into another. you do not need a tv or even the av cables. light on front will flash orange (unless modded for a diff't color) that is ok. i like to use evox with flash fxp. if you have avalaunch i would suggest qwix with that. i dont have experience with unleash. if your default gateway is 192.168.0.1 then change your xbox to 192.168.0.5 and your pc to something like 192.168.0.33 another option is to make an iso or your roms and play them from dvd, just make sure the default.xbe is in there and it will boot. how did you mod your xbox? if its a hard mod you can try an auto installer i made that puts emu's and roms automatically for you. works for xbox hdd or upgraded.
I agree, it is a problem. >.< But for computing, I'd have to say I like Windows 98 SE over Windows XP. *Shrugs* And sorry, that advice didn't work either. V_V
Well; I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I softed my box; but when I went to do a friend's, I suddenly can't FTP it; and it won't read DVD+Rs, I have to go through CD-RWs
