I'll run down the process for you, Jazz. If you do this step by step, you'll have your maps modded in about 20-30 mins.

    1. you need to somehow get a modded dash on your xbox showing, you can do this either by hardmodding the box with a chip, which i dont recommend bc it takes an assload of time, or by using action replay. you can do it the AR way by first going to this site, http://www.xx360xx.xom, and when you get there click on enter then at the top click on linux files. on the right of this page you're going to see something that says 100% safe downloads. click on this and download the files to your computer (dont use the 80% bc it has a real bad history of screwing up your xbox's hard drive). what this is is something that is going to tweak your box into the modded dash without using a chip, hence the name softmodding. when you download these files, open up the compressed folder and drag the linux file and the splinter cell file onto the desktop, and then open up action replay, and drag the files one by one onto the mem card (dont unzip the files, keep them compressed).

    2. when this is done you need to take the mem card out of the AR USB hookup and put it in a controller. then turn on the box so you are on the xbox dash. go to the mem card and copy both files onto the hard drive. then what you want to do is get a copy of splinter cell (make sure its regular and not the platinum hits) and put it in the box and let it load. when it loads, press start and select the linux file and press A. this should take you to the Evolution X modded dash. this will now let you FTP your xbox.

    3. when you get to the modded dash (which you want to leave up for the remainder of the process), you will need to download an FTP software on your computer. i recommend SmartFTP. when you get this, go under the settings tab of the modded xbox dash, and find the IP address that your xbox uses. up at the top of the SmartFTP dilaog box you will see where it says IP address, user name, and password. input the IP, and xbox for both the username and password. when you do this you should get a screen right under the IP box that gives you several folders. you want to access folder E. when you click on this, you will find a bunch of folders. access the one that ends in 64 (should be about 3/4 of the way down the list). when you get into this one, you should see two more folders. click the one that says "$c." in this folder you will should get 3 folders ending in a bunch of zeros, followed by 1, 2, and 3, respectively. this is where you will find the new maps. the maps themselves end in .map, and all the other files you dont need to worry about. in folder 1, you will find containment and warlock. in #2, you will find a map called deltatap (sanctuary) and turf. in #3 you will find dune (relic), triplicate (terminal), elongation, backwash, and gemini. now this is where you want to transfer (FTP) the maps into the folder you made on your computer. after these maps are transfered, you are ready to patch the maps with ppf patches (the mods themselves).

    4. now you want to make a folder somewhere on you're computer where you are going to put the maps. you can call it anything you want.

    5. now you are going to need to get 2 programs, a map resigner, and a ppf patcher (a good one to use is PPFoMatic). you can find both of these on http://www.xx360xx.com/, or http://www.halogama.com/. when you download and unzip these, you are ready to patch your maps. finding patches for the maps can be the tough part, as there are alot of them that do alot of different things. a good site to find ppf patches is http://a4h.us/, or http://www.ppfnoobs.tk/.

    6. when you download the patches, it is now time to patch the maps. open up PPFoMatic and where it says ISOfile, you upload the map. where it says PPF patch, you upload the patch (the patches are usually map specific). then click patch and let the program work its magic. after all of your maps are patched, you need to resign them with the resigning software. all you do is open the map on the resigning software and click resign. this usually takes overall about 5-10 mins for all the maps. when all of your maps are resigned, its now time to FTP them back to the box. open up SmartFTP, and go back to the folders that are names 000000001, 00000002, and 00000003. now you want to place each map in the folder that it came from. when it asks to overwrite click yes. when all this is said and done, you can close the FTP connection.

    7. if you did all of this correctly, you can put halo 2 in the drive and mess around with your modded maps.

    - if you need any help or have questions, my email is ks22@comcast.net, or just reply on here. hope this helps. just remember that using modded files can get you banned from live if you do it in any form of MM, so i'd suggest just messin around with custom games.
