So I've been running XBMC for about 6 months now but after a reformat my acquired version of WINFTP no longer works. It did for the 14 days but now its a no go.

I was using WINFTP to stream media from my computer to my xbox and would like to keep doing this. Does anyone have another completely free program that I can set up to use like WINFTP for streaming? WINFTP was so easy to use, all I had to do was install, create a user, set directory and then go online.

Any help would be so much appreciated!

Erm, any reason why you're not using simple (and free) Samba shares, it doesn't get much more basic than that for streaming. For FTP access i use (free) filezilla.

For some reason Samba never worked for me. I tried doing that when I first started using it and I kept getting connection errors and "this domain is not availble" stuff. It was annoying and someone recommended I do it over ftp and WINFTP does a great job, its jut that its $80 for a license.

Eh ?, you just right click a folder, select sharing and security and a hand appears on/in the folder icon.
I personally have a limited user on the pc named xbox with a password of xbox ie the default xbox authentication. Then in XBMC simply select WORKGROUP in the video section and your pc should appear in the list, select that and the shared folder will appear. It doesn't get more simple (or free) than that, it's just basic networking...
