I have followed the tutorial and can not get my xbox to communicate with PC. I try to connect via a router. What am I missing?? Xbox: IP 192.168.0.100 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1 FTP: enabled PC: IP 192.168.0.100 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1
you have them all the same thats whats wrong go to stting then to network settings and chang it to dhcp and then put ur xboxes ip in useing flash fxp with user name and password as xbox
sorry -- below are the correct setting I have used but still can not get it to connect - Connection failed error Xbox: IP 192.168.0.200 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1 FTP: enabled PC: DHCP enabled IP 192.168.0.100 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1
You entered these values on the xbox yourself? DHCP should set them for you and override anything in those fields. What is the IP that is being assigned to the Xbox automatically? That's the IP you need to enter in to flash fxp to get a connection.
no these are values that are automatically assigned. The for Xbox is 192.168.0.200 and that is what I enter into FlashFXP. I am thinking the problem has to do with my router -- also should FlashFXP have passive mode enabled? thanks!!!
Puzzling. It all looks ok, but then I'm assuming you have NO checked on the Xbox settings box for Static IP, and YES selected for setup network. Flash fxp is just timing out on you, or it's just failing to establish the data connection? You have a firewall? You might try turning it off to see if that works.
Yes... in EvoX I have setup network=yes, use static ip=no and FTP=enabled. The error from FlashFXP is Connection failed (Connection timed out) and I have turn off the firewall on my router yet no luck. Thanks -- stretch99
Crap, sorry it doesn't work. What kind of router is it? I know there area a few that can be a pain. For instance, if it has an internal firewall you may need to configure port forwarding on port 8602 I believe.
I have a DLink router - i have tried your suggestion and added port 8602 to the virtual server and still no luck. thanks for your help with this -- it getting frustating -- it should be simple!!!!
Yeah, it should be simple! Ok, with D-Link routers I believe FTP should be set to passive, which you probably tried because you mention it above. Active FTP won't work with most nat routers, so if you didn't try that give it a shot.
I have checked and double checked everything -- I am going to start from scratch and reload everything -- I will post the results. thanks for everyone who tried to troubleshoot
I had trouble with my D-link router and conecting with my Xbox when it came to using DHCP. So I disabled DHCP on my router and set up my network manulay. What I did was disabled DHCP on the router. computer and Xbox and made them all static. Below is an example of IPs you could use even tho they arnt the IPs I actully use for my network. I just wanted to give you an idea of how to set it up staicly. The only IP that is the same is the 192.168.0.1 which is D-Link routers IP addresses. For my Xbox IP I set it at: Xbox: IP 192.168.0.12 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1 (router IP) DNS was set to 192.168.0.1 (modem connected to router) so i could update my Apps and dash. Computer1 IP 192.168.0.10 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1 (router IP) DNS was set to 192.168.0.1 (modem connected to router) so I can get on the internet. Now I happen to have another computer connected to the router wirelesy so I just up 1 on the IP address when adding the second computer. Computer 2 IP 192.168.0.11 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1 (router IP) DNS was set to 192.168.0.1 (modem connected to router)so I can get on the internet. So the IPs on my netwrok end up being: 192.168.0.1 = router (gateway) 192.168.0.10 = computer 1 192.168.0.11 = computer 2 192.168.0.12 = Xbox It is actully simple to set it up this way. Of course if you do it this way you will have to set the IP to static IP in your Xbox settings and manuly put in the IP addresses. Same with your NIC card in the computer change the TCP/IP to static and add the numbers in the field. This will also help in keeping your Xbox with the same IP address rather then having DHCP enabled which means the router could assign a diffrent IP address to your Xbox then before. But that is just another way of going about doing it.
you can find your ip and other IP information by doing the below... Start/Run/(type) CMD then a black window will appear (type) ip config and it will list your network IP addresses.
