Hi, thanks for taking the time to look!

Basically we are renovating a house which was wired top to bottom in cat6 for multiroom AV.

All cables originate from wall plates into which AV equipment would connect.

Each and every room has two ceiling speakers and a wall plate with buttons to choose a source input for that room and volume.
One of the speakers in each room seems to be a passive and some have four cat6 feeds and some two.

I believe the previous owner had a wall plate into which he would of connected all AV sources and there are IR recievers combined in the plate. I was told he possibly used a philips pronto which i can find out tomorrow and confirm.

Basically, i need to work out if we now will need an AV reciever to control all equipment? im unsure due to the wall plate where equipment connects, has 4 source inputs and it seems the pronto has the ability to control all sources via one IR remote.

The user should be able to walk around the house and choose a source at the wall plate and adjust volume or point pronto at AV wall plate at origin of equipment.

Does this mean i will not need an AV reciever? Its just the method of getting sound from either and both the ceiling speakers and out of a tv itself. Sorry - im newish to the game and trying to get my head around this.

    photos can follow tomorrow.

also, if this makes sense, i have to wire some new rooms in cat6 for new speakers and wall plates to newly built bedrooms etc. can anyone give me a brief explanation as to how the system is connected? eg: from wall plate at sources to speakers and then loops between speakers and wall plates in each room? sorry just guessing and searching online.

i did notice some cables at a removed speaker (by someone else on site) has tags like uc1, uc2, local and possibly another? all alien to me!

    big thanks in advance!
