OK, is it me or are video games getting crap. I seem to be playing the same game over and over. I played Halflife 2 to death a couple of months ago, I downloaded the F.E.A.R. demo and I just couldn't tell them apart. I have played games since the NES (and a bit older) and not much has changed. Its still a box with controller. The box gets updated with the latest hardware.... Well it is the latest when the thing was designed, by the time it hits the shelves its been superceded twice. The same games get a revamp, Halo, Halo 2...Halo 3... Halo GX. Metal Gear Solid "whatever". Mario 252. Gran tourismo 69 (dude). It's the same game with fancier graphics. As a games fan of 20 years its really starting to bore the crap out of me. I start to play the game, maybe a couple of hours into it and I couldn't care less. First Person shooters are going to be the end of games. What do you reckon ?
First Person Shooters have been stagnant for years in my opinion. The better graphics make a more immersive experience, but the basic game format is unchanged since I played Midi Maze nearly 20 years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI_Maze Games are getting so expensive to produce now it seems they only want to appeal to the mass market and go with sequels to existing franchises. I think that can really be said of anything. Look at how many movie sequels are made, or how many Britney/Christina/Boy Band sound alikes there are on the airwaves, but that is what they promote for the mass market. I get tired of EA Cookiecutter Sports 2006 with minimal improvements from the previous years. Some sequels seem to try to add some really good twists. I really liked the Sly Cooper series for the PS2, each retained the best parts of the previous ones but still came up with enough elements to make each unique. I still find a few gems with unique gameplay. Katamari Damacy for the PS2 was very good and original, and I am also really looking forward to what innovations and originality in gameplay can be achieved with the new Nintendo Revolution controller. It does seem like the PC gaming is only FPS and MMORPGs these days, but I hope Elder Scrolls Oblivion adds some fresh life there.
I dont agree at all no offense. Its good better graphics. Wouldt it s-u-c-k if we still had crappy nes grapihcs anyway gaming is a very big buisness. They make lots of money just to improve graphics like the xbox 360 of course there goona be another sequel its just a way to make money. My opinon games rock! Without them i would have killed myself already. All i do is play games. "games are getting borin" No wrong games are getting better and better. If there were no video games i would have stabbed my self with this knife by now. ~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~+++~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~+++++~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~+++++++~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~+++++++++~~~~~~ ~~~~~~+++++++++~~~~~~ ~~~~~~+++++++++~~~~~~ ~~~~~~+++++++++~~~~~~ ~~~~~~+++++++++~~~~~~ ~~~~~~+++++++++~~~~~~ ~~~==============~~~~ ~~~==============~~~~ ~~~~~~~~=====~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~=====~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~+++++++~~~~~~~
