    Heylo.

Is gamespy arcade safe? During installation I received numerous warnings on my AV and Anti-Spyware apps.

    Well mike,

I have had gamespy installed ever since I got Halo, which was about May of this year. And thus far have had no problems with/relating to it. Spybot has picked nothing up from it. I'd say it is pretty safe to use. The actual client is fine, just depends who is connected to the server and if they are hackers etc.

The free 2.x versions of GameSpy Arcade don't install spyware, but they do install adware as part of the product. Thus Norton, McAfee and TrendMicro AV and anti-spyware apps all identify GameSpy Arcade as spyware. I had to disable TrendMicro's PC-Cillin to get it to install and I currently ignore the warnings that occasionally popup.

If you subscribe to GameSpy Arcade you get a non-ad version and shouldn't have this problem.

    Details can be found here:

If you run a proggy like Ad-Aware, you don't get the adware...

If you are dumb enough not to take any precaution, in any situation, you are asking for trouble
