CPU - OK GPU - Take the Sapphire Motherboard - Current motherboards are based off of socket 775 which is being replace by 1366 (I believe) along with another socket in Q4 2008. This means that you wont be able to upgrade your cpu too much getting a socket 775 board, though if you OC well enough, you should be able to last. For a cheaper but solid board, I sugggest the P45-DS3R, but if youre going to use xfire ( two gpus ) later then something with the X48 chipset. Something like the Asus Rampage Formula. Also, something with the P45 will be cheaper than the X48. Ram - DDR3 is expensive at the moment, and is more a question of is it worth the money rather than is it better than DDR2, and whether or not you will upgrade again in the future. HDD - WD 640 GB has my vote. DVD drive - I would think of BRD as something maybe a bit more down the road, unless you plan on using it immediately, as for a DVDRW, pretty much any Pioneer, LiteOn, or Sony should do. PSU - PCP&C FTW, though the Corsair is good too. Case - Either of the two you have there should do, though I favor the Antec 900 HSF - Tuniq Tower OS - This is more of a personal thing, its really up to you. Other - Thermal Paste isnt needed but can help alot. From the looks of both cases, they have enough case fans.
hows this: the E8600 as they are the new E0 stepping Ocing to over 4.5 on good air coolers. no games are supporting or will do for a good 2 years using a quad, and a 4.5 E8600 will take ANYTHING you can throw at it.
Spamual has a point about the gaming, so then a question comes in, how long do you want this to last? Getting the E8600 will give you good frames for a bit until multi core support is implemented, while when multi core support is implemented the Q6600 will win. But then say it is two years til most games really have the support, will you be upgrading nehalem? There are quite a few things to think about for this now that I really look it...damn you spamual

for a mouse, go get a cyber snipa stinger it's very comfortable, and very sensitive. 3200 DPI. i got mine for 35.99 CAD.

i agree with sam, i thought the 4870 was more pricey in the US, just like in the UK, but if its leess pricey, IMO go with the 4870
It's pretty much the same. The VisionTek HD4870 is 270 delivered, minus a 20 rebate = 250, the Palit GTX260 is 264 delivered, minus a 20 rebate = 244. For six dollars, I'd take the 4870.
