Hey I have an R4DS for slot 1 and ezflash 3 in 1 for 2. I have gba roms working and they work fine. The only problem is I can't save in any gba pokemon games. I tested, they work fine on my pc emulator and save perfectly, but once I put them on my r4, when I try to save it says, "Save failed. Checking backup memory.. Please wait." Any idea what I can do? I pretty much bought my 3in1 to play pokemon and now I can't :s any ideas appreciated.

    1. is your firmware up to date?

    2. I am running the same combo with no problems. What program are you using to load/manage your 3-in-1?

    3. When did you buy your 3 in 1? There are rumblings about a hardware change somewhere along the line that caused compatibility problems.

I have had my 3-in-1s for over a year so I have the "old" ones.

    1. Yes my firmware is up to date.

    2. I actually use NDstation to patch gba roms and make them into nds files

    3. I bought it pretty recently, early March '09

Thanks for ahead of time for any help you can give me.

I looked at NDSstation and I see possible compatibility holes.

Absent someone else chiming in that has successfully done it that way I would suggest that you use the program that EZFlash provides to patch your ROMs and Rudolph's 3-in-1 loader since I know that method works.

If that doesn't work it could be one of the compatibility issues with the new EZFlash IIIs.

Alright thanks I'll try what you said. I don't think it's a compatability issue with my method. My Final Fantasy VI rom works just fine the way I did it, just not pokemon.

The point is that in most things technical, follow the manufacturer's recommendation to establish a baseline.

This is why chipset manufacturers supply reference drivers to help troubleshooting.

Yeah whenever I try it your way, it says something along the lines of no slot 2 device detected. And now for some reason, the method I used (convert gba rom to nds rom, then patch) , I got Pokemon Emerald to work just fine, but ruby still refuses to save. I think I'm just going to forget about ruby, but if you think of anything let me know.
