Hi, how're you doing? I've recently purchased a R4DS and it works great. I was talking to a few lads who use the M3 Adapter (slot-2) and use GBM instead of MoonShell+DPG files. How do these methods compare in terms of quality and functionality. Can I even play GBM files (I'm assuming it is a filetype aswell as a movie player name.) using a Slot-1 device? I plan on converting about a dozen of my DVDs to work on my DS and I'd rather focus on the better format.
DPG is better than GBM in every way, there is no point in using GBM at all. The only advantage there used to be with GBM is the M3 had GBM playback built in, but it also has Moonshell built in now so GBM is an obsolite format. I don't think the R4DS (or the M3 DS Simply) can play GBM anyway, so DPG is the way to go
