Well i currently invested in a Visiontek g3ti500 with 64mb ddr. Im getting 7,000 to 7,800 on 3dmark. Ive been toying with the fact of putting on a new fan and some heatsinks. But I have some questions. Ive seen some pics of people that do their own mods on it and put a huge 80mm and a heatsink on the card, it seems alittle out there, but they say it will work. Or will a vantec fan and a couple of heatsinks work just as well? My final question is the scores for the 3dmark. Do they reflect on the system. Im currently runnin a abit kt7hplease: AMD T-Bird 1.33 with a alpha heatsink with a 60mm to 80mm converter on it with a 80mm vantec tornado pushin out 34cmf's , 512 pc133 Kingston Sdram, and the g3 ti500. And i was only getting the 7000ish score, when i know the card can well get 10,000. Should i just upgrade the mobo and ram to improve my score, or should i try modding the vid card to get some more performanc eout of it with OCing?
What's this for? Modding old hardware is an interesting idea for a project, but there's no real world benefit for clocking a system like that as the cheapest of new PCs with integrated graphics would blow it away. Additionally, I never really used 3dmark01 only 06, so I'm not familiar with its score system. Heatsinking the card will certainly help cool it, but GPUs tend not to overclock too well (less than 20% boost in pretty much all cases).
Yes it is a reflection on the system. Going to a DDR based motherboard would give you a pretty good jump. So would getting a faster processor. When you compare your stuff on 3DMark make sure you compare processor speeds also.
somebody did an offensive post on gfd333 & i saw wt1099 had advertising similar to gfd333's but he had a shoutbox. looked in his shoutbox & a member asked him if he was also gfd333. banned gfd333 then did an ip check on wt1099 which showed both are the same so banned him too. both of them were in the same 3 posts & no were else.
