    Dear Anyone.

Brief specs: AMD Athlon running at 2.8ghz, 1gig RAM, 250gig hard drive spare.

Trying to use DVD Lab Pro to put a menu on the front end of a home video., so you can click to see different chapters, scenes, etc The video's in VOB format - it's basically one big vob. About 150meg.

DVDV Lab Pro accepts the video. I make the menu. Do a dummy compile, WITHOUT the video, everything's fine. Then I do a compile using the real video and get Video Type Doesn't Match, every time. Yes, I've tried using different videos. The main prob. is the phrase 'Video Type Does Not Match'. It's a VOB, at least it calls itself that. As do my other vids. Nero, everything picks up on them as VOBs. And VOBs are the only file-types DVD Lab Pro will accept, as far as I can tell. So what isn't matching what, and how do I make everything match so it will compile my project?

This might be a clue for anyone who knows more than I do (which includes most of the world's population right now!) If I try to demultiplex anything, it says it can't open the file. Yet the file's THERE - it shows up fine in Preview! So I don't understand what it's trying to tell me, or if there's any relevance.

Here's the log output, there might be clues there for you - I do hope so. I know it says about frame sizes not matching, I've gone through all the options in Project Properties I can think of - no joy.

I'm not familiar with DVD Lab Pro, but when I use other programs to add a menu to VOB files, it usually involves 'demuxing' the video first.
Does DVD Lab Pro have an option to demux before compiling?

    Dear Attar.

Yes it does, but I wasn't sure what that meant-you're talking to a complete and utter baby here, this is the first time I've tried doing anything like this!

So I looked it up and I discovered it meant separating the sound from the video. So I got a program which did this - it's called Rejig and it's a legit free download - and used it. I thought I'd end up with 2 files, one containing the sound and the other containing the video images. This seemed logical. Instead, I seem to have ended up with the original video, but silent. I'm going to put this into DVD Lab Pro and see if I have any more luck with it!

I'll report back in a couple of hours when I've done it and hopefully, if it still doesn't work, you'll be kind enough to suggest something else! I WISH they had thought of putting an appendix of error messages in their manual, it's obviously an excellent program and it would be an excellent manual if only it covered error messages!

Thanks for your time thus far!

Dear Attar, or anyone who reads this.

Well, I demuxed the video, went through the whole process with that and EXACTLY the same thing happened. With one difference.

DVD Lab Pro has got 2 progress bars - I call them 'bullshit bars' because they're eye candy basically, those sort of things - but anyway. One fills up rapidly and every time it hits the end the other one fills up a tiny bit. This time round it DID seem to get a lot farther before booting the video out, but maybe that's just because it was demuxed, I honestly have no idea. Anyway.

I'm enclosing the Report the program generated, as far as I can see it's exactly the same as the other one but hopefully it'll mean something to you, because it doesn't mean a whole lot to me (No I wasn't born thick, I worked very hard at it and I've got the certificates to prove it!)

If you know of any alternative piece of software that will let me put a menu on the front end of a DVD without all this fussiness and error report generation, please tell me. I don't mind chucking DVD Lab Pro. I just wanna put a menu on a DVD that I can point to with the TV DVD player remote and click on! Anyway, here's the report.

    I've used DVD styler.
    Run DVD Styler
Locate a 'Directory', highlight the vob(s) of the title (VTS_01_1.VOB VTS_01_2.VOB if applicable) and holding down the 'Ctrl' key, drag them down to the timeline at the bottom of the window.

The selection should show as 'Title 1'

Select the menu button(s) by dragging buttons onto the main window.
The buttons default to button 1, 2, etc.
R/C on a button and select 'properties'and tell the button to 'Jump to' whichever title you want.
Click the 'Burn' icon and output to a temporary folder then test menu operation with media player then Shrink or burn as required.
