I have captured lots of video and exported to MPEG2 (using Premier 6.5) and then used DVDit (SE) to burn to DVD. The problem I have is that after an hour, or so, when I play the DVD-R, there are lots of scrambled frames and glitches and the DVD then stops, short of the end of the video. Even though the disc is apparently created without problems. The discs I use are : Memorex DVD-R If I use other (lot more expensive) types ... e.g. SONY DVD-RW, the problem does not occur as often. Yet the Memorex website claims that the discs are compatible with the Pioneer. Why can I record over an hour of good video on the Memorex DVD-R and then get errors. Some info on my system: Win 2000 pro (SP3) ASUS A7S333 MoBo C : drive Maxtor, 80Gb (7200 rpm), (UDMA), master on primary IDE G : drive WD, 60Gb (7200rpm) - (UDMA) master on secondary IDE D : LG DVD-ROM (PIO), slave on primary IDE E : Pioneer A05 (PIO, firmware 1.0), slave on secondary IDE Matrox RT.X10 for capture Premier 6.5 for editing and MPEG coding. Have used DVDit SE and MyDVD for burning DVD's - MyDVD comes up with the error : "Could not complete the last command because: Device Error - Sense Code (3 73 03) - Power calibration Area Error, Sequential Write DVD error 226051" I am not confident about upgrading the Pioneer firmware, yet... but I will welcome advice on this ..... I thought that I had to do this from bootdisk and it was irreversible, but having read the forums, I see that it can be done from the WIN 2000 environment. Anyway ... any inputs are gratefully received
Now, this problem with playback; is this in a stand alone DVD player (hooked up to your TV) or in the DVD player in your computer? I know my home DVD player is very moody when it comes to burned discs. ( I bought the cheapest one available in 1998; OK I got it free. But you get the point.)
I have tried both. I have a newish Panasonic DVD player that is hooked up separately plus I have tried both the LG internal DVD-ROM and the Pioneer A05. I did get some feedback from another guy that Memorex DVD-R discs are not very good ... does anyone else have a comment on this ?
