I've had this puter for a while, only 512M RAM. Did the Crucial scan and bought 3G, 1G for each of 3 slots. I can boot fine when I install a stick into the first slot. I booted fine three times changing out the sticks, only using the first slot. When I put more than one stick in, the machine beeps at me, with nothing on screen, until I shut it down.

I swear I'm putting them in correctly in the second slot, just as I am in the first slot. How can I determine if the mobo is bad?

For reference, the Crucial RAM is 1GB DDR PC3200.

Does any combination of multiple sticks of RAM cause this problem or only certain ones? Check all combinations (1+2, 1+3, 2+3, 1+2+3), no need to test them with different sticks as you've confirmed they all work.
Is the memory you bought certified as non-ECC?
