    Hi All,

I'm trying to convert some old VHS tapes to DVD. I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-1800 ( http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_hvr1800.html )

It has a built-in hardware MPEG-2 encoder. How do I best make use of it? The software that's bundled with the card sucks. I'm willing to acquire whatever software will be best for capturing the video, but I can't figure out what that is.

Shouldn't the encoder be able to record it in such a way that makes DVD burning go very fast?

I appreciate any help you can give me.
