I just downloaded and used my trial version of express using a Sony DRU510A and Memorex dvd-r on sale at comp usa. I love it. Do I get Gold or Platinum? I don't care about extras and express is what I'll use most of the time but I also want to copy the Sopranos and Oz. I don't know what a tdf file is yet so I don't know if I'll need Platinum. Thanks a lot mfurj
My best advice would be to forget them and save your money. I've used both DXC and DXCExpress. They are alright, but not great. The "Backup" nag screen gets old and the latest DXCExpress is buggy and doesn't work well with episodics like Sopranos or Oz. I know this for a fact because I tried over and over to get express to backup my three disc set of "The Young Ones" and it never could. I would suggest using DVDShrink to decrypt/compress and Nero or Record Now to burn it. This is what worked beautifully for my Young Ones set. Here's the link to the guide that got me running: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm Good luck!
That is an option, but if you do like the simplicity of DVDxCopy. Then I would say buy the Platinum version. In this version you can back up episode DVD's and it works. This can be done with or without compression to fit on one DVD and tacks that you don't want to backup can be unselcted. This newer version gives you a lot more options then the Gold version.
Prisoner makes a good pint with XCopy. My experience is with XCopy 1.52 and I've never used Platinum, although more options is always good! It really boils down to whatever you are more comfortable with and how much time you are willing to invest in learning the process. DVDXCopy = Very easy, does what it says. DVDShrink = A bit more learning curve, but ultimately more satisfying. If you like XCopy, go for it. You can always try other apps later! Happy burning
Platinnum is worth more, but has a tebdency to be more variable in the market Gold generally increases in value throughout its life time. I reckon get yourself a big bar of gold for investing in. um...we are talking about gold bullion aren't we?? lol
Where can I get a good price on a nice hunk of gold? How about a few diamonds too. Thanks everyone. I checked out DVD shrink and downloaded it and I think I'm gonna go with the Platinum and use it while I learn how to use shrink. mfurj
Gold is cheapest at Coin shops. You can get bars or coins of gold, platnium or whatever. But this is topic for the off topic thread. Good to hear you went with Platium. Gold version of DVDxCopy to me doesn't make much sense. The Platnium version lets you do anything you would ever want to backup your movies.
Does the Platinum do everything gold does? is there any advantage to retail package vrs. download i.e. like a manuel?
Platium does more than gold does. Gold only includes the old DVDxCopy software for complete backups and DVDxExpress for one disc backups with out menu and special features. Platium includes a new advanced menu which allows you to backup episode discs and sellect what on the disc you want to backup. It also has the option for compression to one disc or no compression. The On line version includes Disc rescure for free. I would recomend buy directly online as updates are then free for ever. I bought DVDxCopy and have recieved free updates since then for DVDxpress, and DVDXCopy platium. The online download feature will also ensure that you get the most up to date version. Some stores are still selling DVDxCopy 1.3 As it goes for manuals, stay on this website and you will learn more in 10mins then 10mins of a manual could teach you. So I would buy Platium and from the online site.
