Do 'Gold Plated' scart leads really make a difference ? I've only ever used cheap'n'cheerful scart leads and wondered in spending £15 (and more) on 'Gold Plated' scart leads would improve my TV picture. Regards Paul
MrBrummie, Signals are weakend by any join, a plug and socket is in effect a join, that is why they sell leads with gold contacts. But in my experience, whilst gold is a much better conductor, it is only a very short run from the back of your other appliance to your TV. If you are having problems the cause is most likely elsewhere. T
As mentioned above. Any metal with pure levels off around 99.99% oxygen free will do the job. Noise is an issue, but to be honest, most wouldnt notice it. Oh...and there is a difference between the cable i have, and the, in my opinion, lesser quality £80 HDMI interface cable i had and the £40 component video cable i originally had was useless. Also, for speakers, although its a touchy subject about cable quality, i noticed a massive improvement when i went from standard 215 strand copper cable to my QED Silver Anniversary cable:
