if your going to use the DVD dash R format use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden

nero 6.6.0.18 should work fine for everything without upgrading

Or one could try ImgBurn as their burning engine. Powerful program, just updated.

Tried IMGBURN...and got the same thing....I thought Sony were good...they rate to the TY's right....TY use to make the Sony ...

I used to use Verbatim and made to many coasters...I use only Sony dvd+r and made maybe 3 coasters out of 600 do to it not playing in low end dvd players....I just heard that dvd-r are better for playing on any dvd player....that is reason for the switch..

I did slow down burn speed with the IMGBURN...down to 1x....and as soon as I hit the start button...it shows it starting then kicks out an error of incompatible disc....

If unfamiliar with booktyping here's basic guide utilizing ImgBurn.

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_set_booktype_for_blank_dvd_r_w__media_page_2.cfm

    Edit:

Is this just with this particular title, or anytime you're trying to burn? You might want to start by making sure your burner drive is nice and clean.

Also, run Dvd Identifier to get the info on the blank media you're currently using.

Refer to the guide in my previous post for booktype settings. When you load your blank disc in ImgBurn it should have a little log screen on the right side, format and/or booktype should be listed there.

It may be new burner time.

Do you have an external burner you could hook up and try?

I'm pretty sure most Sony drives booktype, NECs do not

you will need nero express to booktype

and yes an external burner is a good option if you don't realkly need a new laptop

I have read through the post and didn't find the answer to my question with the Gone Baby Gone DVD. I saw where people had the same problem as me...won't play on my computer. How did you get so that it would play on the computer. When I put the DVD in the player it opens a window with the audio and video files showing but no files in the folders. How do I get so I can view the DVD and the also burn it?
